Rockin’ Around the Circuitry

The idea for this project was to base a typeface off of an inanimate object. I wanted something bold and geometric, and I have always been fascinated by circuit board patterns, and how they are able to transfer electricity in a neat and organized manner. I brought this concept into my typeface. The idea was to have part of the character outlined, and have the circuits fill in the rest of the letterform, as if they were transferring electricity to it. The circuits are either moving straight up, straight to the side, or at a 45° angle, which was the main rule in my typeface. However, I chose to break this rule on letters with a diagonal stroke in order to match the angle, as seen best in the W, V, M, N, and A. Most of the numbers are based off of Myriad Pro and some of the letters, like the M, S, and N are based off of Futura.
